Sarah and Riley - Rainy Day Yeppoon Wedding!

WHAT a ride Saturday was!

It was meant to be a beautiful tropical celebration, on one of their favourite beaches, however, the weather had different plans.

The day started off with the perfect tropical styling coming together, but as 1.30pm rolled around, things were getting a tad dark! As we watched the clouds roll in and out, cloudy then sunny, we hoped that the 3pm shower would pass! We waited, we hoped, but at 2.30pm, the call was made to move the guests (who were already soaked) from the beach to the private backyard reception, gathering everyone under the marquee.

I assured Sarah not to stress, telling her that I would meet the boys at the house to make sure they set up the ceremony as pretty as possible. When I arrived, I was greeted by Riley (yes, the groom), barefoot and completely drenched, guiding cars to find a park wherever they could. He had a drink in his hand and a smile on his face, not even the downpour could stop Riley from having the best day.

After gathering my gear and running inside (also barefoot by now too) with my dress hitched up, the boys had already started to strip the reception set-up to make way for a ceremony location. I guided everyone to choose the best photogenic option, which was to face the guests towards the open yard. Which, sitting pretty, right in the middle of the rain and mud, was the gorgeous Kombikeg. A very fitting backdrop for Riley and Sarah's tropical vibes!

As the guests made their way to the new location, next to arrive was Susie from Celebrant by the Sea. You guessed, barefoot and soaked too. Susie has such a great way of conducting a ceremony in any circumstance. Having to implement improvisation for the new location and circumstances, she kept everyone laughing (and crying) as she walked us through Riley and Sarah's love story.

The ceremony was sealed with an electric first kiss! A massive cheer from the guests!

The rest of the afternoon was nothing short of a party! If you know this gang, you know they know how to have fun! The party was well and truly underway by 7pm. Celeste and Kyle kept the party going and had to bear witness to the absolute shenanigans that went on. Those images and stories are definitely for another time.

Although the day didn't go to plan, Sarah, Riley and their families took everything in their stride. They laughed, cried, partied, hugged and loved their way through this beautiful celebration. Rain and all.

Love, Chan x
